This screen is the departure point for each of the courses: Punctuation, Writing, Deadline, Grammar, Spelling, Reading and Exam Practice.

     

     

2/5- FIRST COURSE

 

Let's take a look at the first course: Punctuation

As you can see, all the lessons are listed on the right hand side.

Click on the first one: Full stop

The teacher in the bottom left corner explains you verbally the lesson and you can move from the beginning to the end with the arrows.

     

3/5- THE BUTTONS

At the bottom of any lesson screen, you have access to 4 buttons:

 The Main/Menu button is a link to the the main screen at any time.

 The Word Processor button is a : link to WordPad. You can select a specific word processor in the Preferences menu.

 The Resource Library button opens a new window with different documents about different subjects.

The Index button is a shortcut on the GCSE English Online Help.

 

 

4/5- THE OTHER COURSES

 

A- Writing

    In the Writing course, follow the Forms of Writing (letters, newspaper articles, magazine articles, diaries/journals, prose), Purpose (argument, persuasion, instructions, information, description, narrative)and Audience lessons.

     

    B- Deadline!

    In the Deadline! game you get a chance to apply your knowledge to real life situation.

     

    C- Grammar

    The Grammar section is divided into the following lessons: nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, conjunctions and clauses, prepositions, synonyms and antonyms, words often misused and a quiz.

     

    D- Spelling

    11 lessons into the Spelling section: introduction to spelling, word endings, letter combinations, silent letters, prefixes, sound alikes, verb endings, plurals, word topics, common misspellings, spelling game kit.

     

    E- Reading

    And 11 lessons too in the Reading section: Newspaper articles, magazines, publicity material, advertising and promotional material, reading for information, reading instructions, poetry, prose, autobiographies, diaries and journals, travel-writing, letters.

     

     

5/5- EXAM PRACTICE

 

This section is different: first of all, choose a resource.

The resource list and questions will depend on your difficulty level.

 

Each resource has a reading and a writing type question.

When you have chosen a resource, select a question type then click on Answer Question.

The resources are displayed through a program called Acrobat Reader.
